About the Bedford TQE

Taxpayers for Quality Education (TQE) is a group of Bedford, NH taxpayers committed to ensuring educational quality, fiscal responsibility and public accountability.

TQE believes that education is absolutely vital for career success, stable family life, profitable and competitive business, and a thriving democracy.

A strong public school system is also, without question, one of the most important factors in ensuring that our properties maintain their value and that our town is attractive to businesses.

We are a non-profit, non-partisan, pro-education organization!

We are concerned citizens committed to supporting quality programs that help ALL children achieve academic success.

History of TQE

TQE was originally founded in 1993 and has been instrumental in charting a new direction for education in Bedford.

Among other things, TQE:

  • Fought to bring a high school to Bedford
  • Advocated for the construction of the middle school and the realignment of grades K-8
  • Supported the purchase of the land for the middle school/high school
  • Vigorously advocated expanding the use of computers and technology in the classrooms during the 1990s, successfully supporting technology warrants and programs like Goals 2000
  • Was instrumental in the passage of Riddle Brook Elementary School

TQE Today

Our members serve as classroom volunteers in the PTG, on school district committees and sports teams – everywhere we can work to improve our schools and our community.

Our greatest priority TODAY is ensuring that our school budget is protected from the deep cuts proposed by many, and ensuring that our teachers know we appreciate their dedication and receive the compensation they deserve.  We support competitive salaries for teachers and staff, and are deeply concerned that we currently compensate below many of our peer districts.

It is crucial to education in Bedford that ALL registered voters get out on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 and VOTE!  Voting takes place in the BHS Gym, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Absentee ballots will be available at the town offices, and waivers are available for reasons that include COVID-19 concerns; click here to obtain a form.

TQE is a non-profit organization.  Our work, however, costs money!  We raise funds to support our “get out the vote” initiatives and to ensure that our message is reaching Bedford residents via flyers, mailings and lawn signs, among other things.  WE NEED YOUR HELP!
