Just the Facts: Myth vs. Reality

Myth 1:

Bedford spends “too much” money on Education; our budget is “too high”.

Reality: Year after year, Bedford spends far less on education than our peer districts, similar sized districts and the state average. Our school board and administration are doing a great job managing costs while still providing Taxpayers and students with Quality Education.

Myth 2:

“We can just hire other people to do the job if they don’t like it.”

Reality: This disappointing myth has been a common refrain in response to our educators’ legitimate safety concerns in the time of COVID-19. Leaving aside everything else, voters need to understand that we do not have a surplus of qualified teachers, paraprofessionals, and substitute teachers lined up for these positions. The Bedford School District currently has multiple vacant positions.
